The Sociological Research Institute Göttingen (SOFI) exists since 1968 as a non-commercial, independent but university-affiliated research institution. It follows the principle of application-oriented basic research dedicated to central issues of the day: the transformation of the world of work and digitalization, social cohesion, social inequality, and the safeguarding of public goods and a democratic culture. SOFI is a founding members and participant of the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC).
