Podcast about Green paper on Disability reform and lack of participation

  • 15.12.2023

In this Reboot Republic podcast, Rory Hearne hears from Gillian Kearns, a co-founder of NeuroPride Ireland and secretary of Disabled Women Ireland, and Maryam Madani from Disability Power, who explain what is in the Green Paper on Disability reform, how the proposals have failed to listen and include the voices and perspectives of disabled people, the upset this has caused, how the reforms are neoliberal workfare rather than enabling disabled people.

It was really interesting because about half way through we were talking about how this neoliberal reform impacts on them and they said it doesnt allow us aspire or follow our aspirations. They also explain why participation in service delivery is so important for them and the action they are taking because of not being involved in policy reform.
